Advantages of Thin Film Switch

Believe that we are all familiar with membrane switches, which we often see in our daily lives. This product is now widely used in various fields, as it is a new type of high-tech switch with wide applications.

Membrane switches are produced using polyester film. They have excellent insulation and heat resistance, high mechanical strength, transparency, airtightness, and most notably, flex resistance and high elasticity. The use of membrane switches is very extensive, especially in this era of popular electronic products. Its application has been widely promoted, which has brought new opportunities and challenges to membrane switch enterprises. This constantly urges manufacturers to develop and produce new products.

Membrane switches are switches made by printing conductive ink on flexible polycarbonate or polyester film. They are a type of contact switch. Membrane switches are plane type, multi-layer combination, sealed structure, and they are integrated assemblies of electronic control systems that include key switches, panel function symbols, transparent windows for readout display, indicator light holes, and circuits.

Membrane switches have good sealing performance

Because membrane switches have a fully sealed structure, the switch contacts are not affected by harmful gases and are not easily oxidized. They have the characteristics of being waterproof and dustproof, making them more suitable for various harsh environments.

Membrane switches have rich colors and beautiful appearance

Membrane switches can reflect individuality in color design according to user requirements, and demonstrate material beauty, decorative beauty, and artistic beauty in decorative effects.

Membrane switches are small in size, lightweight and reliable in structure

Membrane switches can be designed and combined into membrane keyboards, with a high density. They are sealed film structures composed of multiple layers of film. All the connection and lead-out wires between switches are printed by screen printing at once, with a total thickness of 1-3mm, which reduces the volume, lightens the weight, and improves reliability.

Membrane switches reduce the supporting cost of electromechanical products

Traditional mechanical switches require soldering during installation, and even need to be matched with fixed brackets. The installation of membrane switches is adhesive. As long as the backing paper is peeled off, they can be firmly attached to the surface of the whole machine. The lead-out ports can be inserted into the sockets of the rear circuit of the whole machine, and the circuit can be instantly connected.

Membrane switches have good durability

The service life of membrane switches can generally reach more than one million times, because the movement of the switch is achieved only by the straight directionality of the elastic film. Although the elastic film undergoes millions of movements, the deformation is very small, only 0.1-0.3mm (that is, the switch stroke). In addition, the material selection is reasonable, and it has not reached the yield limit of the film material, so the film material can withstand more than one million times of service life without deformation. On the other hand, the switch contacts are in direct contact and wear very little. The printed contacts can form a satisfying thickness, and an additional layer of conductive carbon is printed on the silver ink contacts to achieve high wear resistance and self-lubrication. As a result, the service life of membrane switches is tens of times higher than that of mechanical contact switches.
